This Phase 1 effort at the Roosevelt Island Youth Center encompassed the full demolition of approximately 8,000 SF of two-story interior spaces. The scope required rigorous identification, containment, and removal of hazardous materials — including asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and lead-based paint.
SCOPE OF WORK
Demolition of approximately 8,000 SF of two-story interior spaces, including non-structural partitions, ceilings, flooring, and MEP finishes.
Asbestos survey, air monitoring, full abatement of asbestos-containing materials.
Lead-based paint assessment and full lead abatement, including preparation and disposal.
Hazardous material containment, packaging, manifesting, and licensed off-site disposal.
Site safety management including negative air pressure systems, decontamination units, and continuous air quality monitoring throughout abatement operations
Coordination with RIOC ownership and operations staff to minimize disruption to adjacent occupied areas during phased demolition.
Clearance testing, final air sampling, and regulatory closeout documentation for all abated areas.
